What is a Virtual Tour? A Virtual Tour is a collection of linked images (each of a single 'scene', location or room) which allow the viewer to look around under his or her own control. For example, the panoramic picture above is a complete view of a single room - it is an 'Interactive Image' of a single scene. This interactivity is achieved using a mouse or pointer which is clicked and dragged across the picture (please try it above). Linked images can therefore give the viewer a 'first person' tour. An Interactive Image on its own can be perfect for single locations which do not require linking to others. Examples are shown below.

St. Peter's Church, Suffolk. A small church built in Saxon times. Tour Type: 'Full'. A two-scene Tour using High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography. (Opens in a new window.)

Spexhall St Peter Art Show Suffolk Virtual Tour
Spexhall St. Peter Art Show, Suffolk. An event held inside St. Peter's Church, Spexhall. Tour Type: 'Full'. A single Interactive Image with background soundtrack. (Opens in a new window.)

Framlingham Castle view from the Wall Walk, Suffolk Virtual Tour
Framlingham Castle - view from the Wall Walk, Suffolk. Tour Type: 'Standard'. A single Interactive Image. (Opens in a new window.)

The 'New Generation' of Virtual Tours differ from those of the past in many ways. Shot with modern digital SLR cameras and professional quality lenses, the high resolution images created allow for stunning full-screen displays, without becoming pixellated or losing quality. High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography techniques are used when required, which can put an end to loss of detail (overexposed white areas) in exterior windows.

'Full Tour' Option:

  • Field of View: 360°x180°.
  • View is unrestricted - all directions can be seen including the floor beneath the equipment.
  • Editing to remove all traces of equipment from the final images.

  • Example - The Firs Farmhouse presented as a 'Full Tour'. Note that this allows for a fully immersive experience.

'Standard Tour' Option:

  • Field of View: 360°x150°.
  • View is partially restricted - all directions can be seen except the floor area beneath the equipment.
  • Includes the view above (ceiling or sky) as standard.

  • Example - The Firs Farmhouse presented as a 'Standard Tour'. Note that the only difference is the restricted floor view.

Both options include the following:

  • A visit to your site at a pre-arranged time to carry out all necessary photography - using High Dynamic Range (HDR) techniques if required.
  • Subsequent processing and production of Virtual Tours from the images captured.
  • Supply of self-contained Adobe® Flash® Format files for integration into your own website design. This ensures that over 98% of website visitors will be able to view the tour without having to install any software. Please see the Adobe® Flash® Player Statistics for more information. As an alternative, JavaTM files may be supplied - please enquire. Sample code can be provided for the embedding of tours into your own website.
  • Standard navigation buttons.
  • The option to have your tour run full-screen or optimised for file size.

Additional Services:

  • Embedding an Interactive Image into a business Facebook Page.
  • Thumbnail image menus and customised navigation buttons.
